New Social Security Law Affects Most Americans

Before leavng office, President Obama signed into law SIGNIFICANT CHANGES AFFECTING FUTURE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. These were the most sweeping Social Security changes in the past 20 years.

While most American’s are vaguely aware of the new social security rules, very few understand the impact they have on their retirement benefits.

In a nutshell, the new rules affect certain claiming strategies that are being phased out over the next few years. The phased-out strategies affect future single, married and divorced claimants.

Complicating the situation is the Social Security Administration is not allowed to give financial advice on when and how you should claim your benefits.

Mark MacDonald is a Certified Social Security Advisor* and specialist on the new social security rules. Mark works with pending retirees to help them understand how best to maximize their social security benefits under the new rules.
